November 2018 - Annual Meeting

Mickleover WI, Annual meeting can sometimes be a bit dry after all the entertaining and educational speakers and activates enjoyed through the year.  There were lots of minutes to be heard, and elections to get through.  The winner of the competition trophy was Margaret Gibbons, who was somewhat surprised. However, this year was a bit special as our President of 5 years, Jill Edwards, had decided to stand down.  She said her farewell, spoken, not crooned, to the tune of “My Way” and very fitting it was.  The WI adviser, from Derbyshire Federation, oversaw the election of the new president, Linda Reid, who was warmly welcomed.

Sue Atherton from the Hardy Group, (our chosen charity for the centenary year), was presented with a cheque for £600 raised by a number of activities throughout the year.

It wouldn’t be a WI Annual Meeting if we didn’t round off with a bowl of delicious soup (3 choices made by members), a roll, a piece of cake and a cup of tea.  A slightly different but enjoyable evening.
